Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had the opportunity to attend really informative talks about the firm's different core groups and deals that have been worked on, but also to network with their diversity groups. We were partnered with a mentor (associate) and a trainee buddy who assigned work and helped with any queries. We also took part in a team activity, were we came up with innovative ways to address the firm's environmental objectives.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It allowed me to appreciate other functions and groups that an international law firm has, such as tech and business development.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very friendly atmosphere where you are encouraged to ask questions. Regardless of seniority, everyone I encountered was really open and nice. The culture seemed very inclusive.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the scheme and would recommend Allen & Overy's in particular to anyone looking to learn more about commercial law. It was a great balance between workload, networking and getting to know the other vac scheme students. The firm's friendly culture seems to be quite unique to A&O.
