Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day-to-day varies each day as I have different placements through my apprenticeship, so I get as much exposure to the workshop and different departments as possible. I am currently understanding the first inital process of a project and will be going through each department to see the start and finish. I am doing planning, estimating and business proposals etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

So far I am really enjoying my Programme however, I only started in September therefore I have only been on one of my placements.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My company have put me on a few courses which helps me to develop skills and knowledge and additionally in the office, it allows me to build on software skills, communication, and organisational skills
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured as by the end of my apprenticeship I will understand the full delivery process of a project and they are also structured to match with my university modules.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive alot of support from the people around me like in my office and also my bosses and line manager. If there is anything I am stuck on I can easily ask for support from the people around me and everyone is keen to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive alot of help from my training provider as if I need help or have any questions I can easily send them an email or there are other systems in place like skills@cumbria which help you with the information needed for written assignments etc. I also have TPRA meetings to assess how I am getting on and how I am finding University.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It gives me a deeper understanding of project management and helps me understand why we have these systems in place and understand a projects lifecycle.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I have currently been put on a course through our parent company, it is where degree apprentices from each of the 10 companies, Renew own, come together and work on key skills and also allows us to network with others and work on independence and communication etc.

Would you recommend Shepley Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because compared to other apprentices, I feel like Shepley Group really want their employees to progress and they put alot into their apprentices as they want them to gain new experiences, they have also structured my apprentice placement plan structurally which helps me during my uni work and gives me an advantage.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Shepley Group?
Do your research on the company as it is important to know what company your applying for and what your job role may consist of. Revise your interview as there will be alot of different candidates and to just be confident and ask questions to show your interest in the job role.
