About Shepley Group

The Shepley Group is comprised of Shepley Engineers, West Cumberland Engineering and PPS Electrical. We offer intermediate apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships in fields such as welding, pipefitting, business administration, design and project management.

With nearly 20% of our staff being in earn-and-learn positions, we truly believe that our people are key to our success. Many members of our Board started their career as apprentices, including the MD who began his career as a pipefitting apprentice in 1995. We know that training and development not only benefits our business but also our communities, and our teams regularly supporting charities and voluntary enterprises, utilising their skills to make meaningful change.

Shepley Engineers were formed in 1948, and since then we've been a nuclear stalwart. We were involved in the commissioning of the world's first commercial nuclear power plant, Calder Hall, and over seventy years on we're established as a major contractor within several highly-regulated industries. Alongside supporting decommissioning at Britain's oldest nuclear power station, today we are working on Britain’s next generation at Hinkley Point C.

As well as our nuclear capabilities, we are industry leaders in specialist restoration. We led the iron restoration of the Houses of Parliament, as well as playing a key role in the restoration of St Pancras Station and Manchester Town Hall.

West Cumberland Engineering have thirty years’ experience focusing on the manufacture of high quality fabrications. We're renowned for providing exemplary, bespoke solutions and working to clients’ precise specifications, delivering fabrications such as pipework, vessels, waste containers and high integrity ductwork.

PPS Electrical offer a comprehensive range of electrical and instrumentation services mainly within the nuclear industry. We have a large workshop and panel manufacturing facilities in Barrow as well as a number of site specific establishments.
