Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

HR Manager managing the HR support team for Branches and Head Office, covering Learning & Development, Apprenticeship programme, HR advisory support, Recruitment, Policies and Procedures, HR Compliance and other HR related activity.
Day to day activities include responding and answering emails, phone calls and attending meetings. I ensure that the colleagues within my team are able to do their role, are performing well and are focused on the right priorities. I provide HR advice and support for Managers and other colleagues across the Group and have a number of proactive projects ongoing.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme is interesting and challenging with varied ways to increase my knowledge. I have lots of applied HR knowledge but the apprenticeship is supporting me to think from a different perspective and to consider the strategic aspects to how we apply HR at Bagnalls.

I have done both during the course of my apprenticeship, refreshing existing knowledge whilst exploring aspects more deeply.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The support I have received at Bagnalls has been exceptional. My line manager is understanding and supportive and the structure of the course is good, although challenging at this level.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great level of support and guidance where needed. I can go to them whenever i need to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The online training provider and tutor have been great, we meet regularly and the support is appropriate and timely.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It is equipping me with the skills to work at a higher and more strategic level. The skills from the programme are helping to consider all the elements required when developing policies, programmes and implementing projects across a National Company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are social events planned across the year, along with celebration events and competitions to allow apprentices and other colleagues to showcase their work and be recognised for the work they've done. This includes conferences for Managers, Management Trainees, and Awards events for Apprentices who have completed that year.
