Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Every day is different in my role. I have worked on networking, telephony, and Wi-Fi based projects, for a range of customers, such as Royal Mail, Sainsbury's, Santander and Nationwide. I also have worked in fault fixing, remotely investigating network or telephony issues, and providing a solution using a range of tools. Every Friday morning, I have online lectures with university, and during the afternoon I have time to work on assignments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship, because I work on a variety of technologies, with a supportive team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt new skills in: Wi-Fi surveys and design; telephony configuration; switching and routing; network configuration and physical installation; network design; networking and telephony troubleshooting; and software defined networking. I have developed lots of existing skills, for example in organisation, leadership, teamwork and communication.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is lots of different support available, for example my Early Careers Partner and the apprenticeships team support me throughout my apprenticeship, while engineers can help me with the technical side and my university assignments. Managers and supervisors support with organisation and arranging experience/opportunities.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Reasonably well - at Staffordshire university, I have learnt about a wide range of technologies - for example software, cloud architecture, artificial intelligence, and specific networking modules. However, there is less experience in specific systems I use in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is many additional opportunities, such as development days, apprentice sponsored walks and social events in my team.
