Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Most my jobs were monthly based and I would do the monthly tasks every month. Preparing direct debits deductions for each month. Setting up direct debits and looking up invoices using SAP. Working with the international hubs to complete bank reconciliations, gather cash flow data. Working with the Controllers to obtain data for revenue forecast and completing revenue recognition sheet. Using power bi to gather and analyze data. Completing an odd audit check now and again looking at spendings in the business.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I feel I was given somewhat responsibility however most the time I felt I wasn’t given a lot of work to do and felt myself sitting for some hours with nothing to do even asking for work. I did still learn however I would have liked to be given more work. That tax intern was flooded with work but they had more managers where as I had one.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Developed more soft skills and professional skills towards accountancy. Working with different cultures and backgrounds to develop more my accountancy knowledge. Asking more questions has really helped me more.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I feel my manager was really supportive in giving me help, knowledge and listening to my queries. Sometimes I do feel I didn’t get a lot of work after asking then finding myself still waiting for work for hours.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
SLB always had somewhat contribution events on however these were more HR contributed rather than finance. HR got more opportunities and stuff compare to finance, there was an odd work event on however not always engaging with us. Events on normally were quarterly meetings and lunches.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed being part of the finance team and when they did involve me I got to showcase my knowledge. I enjoyed working with my manager and the hubs.

Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to SLB
Ask for plenty of work even if you feel you’re not getting enough work. Ask questions even if you think it’s all clear just have extra knowledge.
