Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
Overall it has been excellent. It is a reasonably well-paying role for new graduates. I entered following a placement year between years 2 and 3 of my uni course, so I did not have to go through an interview during my final uni year. The people are competent and generally easy to work with, and the company is very much invested in developing their early careers employees.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
There is a fair amount of documentation, along with database manipulation and issue tracking. I also very much enjoy the travel aspect between the various BAE sites, as there are not many companies where graduates could legitimately do that kind of travel.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I have been given real responsibilities, along with the support to complete that role.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
The pay is most certainly above-average for new graduate roles. That said, it must be acknowledged that the locations of the BAE sites does mean that pay doesn't go quite as far as you would expect, as the rent in all these cities is very expensive.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I have a role confirmed in BAE for after I exit the graduate scheme.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
The hybrid-working policy allows for a decent amount of flexibility (within reason) regarding my hours and working location.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The general atmosphere is very supportive and welcoming.
How would you rate BAE Systems initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate BAE Systems CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a well-paying job, in a large company with lots of options for lateral career moves.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be more clear about when graduates will receive their first paycheck. Also be more open to graduates not relocating until after that paycheck is received, as my relocation to Bristol basically emptied all my savings.
