Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The first few days were mainly talks on the Global Data and Sales and Analytics departments of Bloomberg. There was a tour of the office and various interactive sessions. Then we took part in a group project and had to do a presentation on a topic given by the coordinators. Everyone was very friendly and the sessions were interactive and enjoyable.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was extremely interesting to learn about the business and its unique culture. It struck me that Bloomberg has a much friendlier working environment than most other companies, and everyone was extremely helpful. This applies to not only the coordinators of the Insight Week but also people in the wider company as well. The roles seem very interesting and I would be keen to learn more about them.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learned a lot about finance and expanded my knowledge on the main asset classes. Through the Terminal demos, I have learned basic Terminal skills and know a few of the main functions and how to navigate the Terminal and the IB chat.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture was very different to most corporate environments. It felt relaxed yet professional, and everyone I spoke to at the company was friendly and always willing to help with any queries we have.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I greatly enjoyed the week, mainly due to the amount I felt that I learned over the course of it and the friendliness of the other interns and the coordinators at Bloomberg.
