Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
I have learned a lot in my time here, however it is of definite note how stressful it has been sometimes.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The projects are very interesting and getting customer feedback is always a good experience.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

They are very eager for grads to be working on meaningful projects. However I will say sometimes the time to get acquainted with projects is very short which adds stress.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

It's not bad but the cost of living in Surrey isn't cheap which I'm not convinced the salary considers. Also finishing the grad scheme on a salary the same as an entry level engineer starts with (that has the same level of experience) doesn't seem fair.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

They upkeep many of their own professional standards which I have taken on board so I hope it will lead to implementing best practises in my future work.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I am definitely developing new skills, however have received minimal actual 'training'. Most of the skills have been self taught either through research or looking at existing projects.

How is the support you receive?

I have been mentored for developing technical skills and talk to my line manager (who I get on with very well) regularly. Although as everyone is very busy it can be hard to get long discussions to go through problems sometimes.
How is your work-life balance?

I sometimes stay later to catch up on tasks, which they assure me I don't have to do however am not convinced. I find it very hard to switch off outside of work as some of the tasks are quite tricky. By the time I get home I feel too drained to do anything.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

The company upholds their values well and encourage us to record them in reviews.
They offer WFH wherever possible to everyone, however the nature of my work means I have to be in office most of the time but I am more than okay with it.
