Overview of the Role
Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
Good. There is a significant focus on training for early careers. I appreciate the opportunity to learn in an environment which promotes this.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I started getting to know the project I was working on and then slowly gained more responsibility. I have had both project management and engineering experience which, I believe, will stand me in good stead for my future.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I am given opportunities to contribute but occasionally I need to chase for work.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

My base salary is very competitive for my role and the £2,000 starting bonus was very helpful for starting life away from home.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I had little systems engineering exposure at university and have had lots of training on this since I started.

I am regularly followed up with by the early careers team and my day-to-day team which means I have all the support I need.
How is your work-life balance?

Very good. The flexible working means I can make the job work around my schedule. I work very short Fridays which makes me feel I have a three day weekend most weeks.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Very positive culture with acknowledgements of where the culture was poor in the past (before my time). Managers are keen to foster a positive working environment and to make early careers feel valued.

Yes
Why?
The renumeration is very good for the work done. There is plenty of opportunities to develop yourself.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
At first, I did more project management than I expected but this changed once I spoke with my manager. I hoped for some more build involvement but this takes place away from my place of work so I don't see as much as I would like. My desire to live in the area did, however, limit my ability to chase this.
