Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
Really positive; I returned to the Business because I felt constantly challenged, inspired to grow and encouraged to develop myself as a professional
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy that all of my line managers have put their trust in me to explore and develop my own solutions to engineering problems; the work is still regulated to an extent, but they do not tell me exactly, step by step, how to do a task
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
In every team I've been a part of, the work I do is useful - not made up to develop a competency, rather it adds value to this Business and I am well aware of that. With support, I am encouraged to manage my tasks, stakeholders, engagements and opportunity for feedback
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I particularly favour the flexible working and time accrual
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
It's helped me to understand what the art of the possible is and where I may like to train
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
My current role exists purely to challenge this

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Often, the contact with staff not related directly to my day job is the most laborious, but once in role, I have had no issues
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
I still have the time to do what I want to. It is actively encouraged to work shorter days or from home where it suits my health better
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Brilliant; I've worked a total of 18months at BAE Systems in various roles and have never had a day without a genuine smile, reassurance or generally incredible team support
How would you rate BAE Systems initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
I've been part of a few of these
How would you rate BAE Systems CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
3/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Empowering and able to support you exploring your career
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
Others felt misinformed, however I found that those I spoke with answered questions I had honestly and that allowed me to have realistic expectations
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to BAE Systems?
It'll take some time, and a no once doesn't mean a no forever!
