Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
My experience on the graduate scheme has been exceptionally rewarding, offering a wealth of opportunities for both personal and professional growth. Entering the program with no prior industry experience in Software Engineering, I found BAE Systems to be an outstanding place to begin my career. The culture is highly collaborative, and employees at all levels have consistently demonstrated a willingness to provide guidance and support whenever needed. The learning and development opportunities are extensive, ranging from structured training programs to hands-on project work that accelerates skill-building. Additionally, the company's incentivised talent framework ensures that individuals seeking career progression are given the right tools and support to put them on the right pathway for their advancement. One of the highlights of my time here has been the chance to travel as part of my role - just one of many benefits that make BAE Systems stand out as an employer of choice. These experiences have broadened my perspective and strengthened my professional network. Overall, the graduate scheme - and BAE Systems as a whole - has provided an exceptional foundation for my career. It is an organisation where I see long-term potential for growth and continued success, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
In my role as a Graduate Software Engineer, my primary responsibilities include testing various tools and software to de-risk their use on specific software projects in-line with software standards. I collaborate closely with my software team, and external tool vendors, to ensure that all tools meet compliance requirements, integrate seamlessly into our development workflows, and deliver the expected functionality without introducing risk.
What I enjoy most about the role is the opportunity to stretch yourself, and work on different projects with different teams to help solve complex problems. This gives me a strong network because exposure to new people and new technologies, allows me to continuously learn and grow everyday, which keeps the work both challenging and rewarding.
