Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
Slow to start off with. As you are thrown straight in to a job within the company, they were unable to find appropriate work for me. But within a few months I felt like a valued member of the team.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My role involved designing and upgrading radar systems software within a large team. Mainly I am involved in the simulation side of things to ensure the changes to the system work as expected. I enjoy taking on varied work and the amount I am learning about our system.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
I would have liked the graduate scheme to be a little more varied. As the scheme has thrown me straight in to a job I feel valued and like the work I am doing matters. However it does not allow a lot of time for developing skills outside of the role. There is opportunities for stretch assignments but these are very much an after thought and not built in to the graduate scheme.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Communication is generally very good and when I ask for support I get it. As I occasionally do work on different project my line manager is not always aware of my work day to day which I think could be improved.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
I am able to start and finish work at times that suit me, as long as I am present for meetings or other commitments and working the required amount of hours each week - this allows me to balance my personal life and work well.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture feels very welcoming and positive, especially in Cowes. There is a real drive to make each other feel supported and accommodate people where needed.
How would you rate BAE Systems initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate BAE Systems CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
