Great. Love the people and ice cream.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Financial Accounting & controlling
Preparing and reviewing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Business Partnering
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance and influence strategic decisions.
Process & Policy Compliance
Ensuring adherence to Unilever’s accounting policies and internal controls, including classification of prepayments and reconciliations.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I would like to see the expansion of structured formal training. There is some (and it is excellent), and we study for CIMA which is good. But more classroom in person learning run by the business specifically would enhance the level a learning a lot.

How is the support you receive?

Excellent line managers across the finance function. Very high quality people who are all committed to my development.
Through no fault of their own HR are too thin on the ground to interact with and functionally speaking don't interact with junior personnel on a business as usual basis, though there are some calls that act as touch points,
How is your work-life balance?

Mostly good. Balancing CIMA and work is hard but that's the nature of full time work and studying. There have been some very long days on occasion,

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Unilever?
Show enthusiasm. Be curious. Engage with the sector. Get into a supermarket to see products on shelf. Think about the supply chain, marketing, and sales organisation that gets the product there and what makes you as a consumer want to use the product (or not)
