Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Virgin Media O2?
Amazing, the grad scheme is really well run and structured. The people working at VMO2 are all really nice and genuine. Not had any issues working for them and the balance between life and work has been good.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I'm currently in a Finance Business Partner role which involves financial planning & analysis. I would say the area I enjoy the most is the analysis as to why numbers have changed MoM
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
I definitely feel as though I'm given the opportunity as I am involved in a lot of the senior meetings in the team.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I'm yet to use the company perks (e.g. VM & O2 discounts) but they seem fairly generous. I take advantage of the 10% pension scheme where VMO2 matches up to 10% as this is something that not many employers do.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
an FBP role is something that is a staple within finance and therefore I believe this role is extremely valuable towards my progression
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
I'm definitely always learning new things. There are times where I'm just following a process but a lot of the adhoc work I do negates that and overall there's always new things to learn or develop.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
I'm very well supported. The buddy system when joining the scheme was a really nice touch, mentors/head of years can feel a bit senior and less like support but more of a monthly catch up review. Line managers are all really supportive and mine really cares for my development.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Disregarding the studying aspect I would say that the balance is great. Unfortunately due to being in a finance position I need to complete my CIMA exams which adds a lot of extra heavy work load outside of work needing to complete these but overall I would say it's manageable.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Great, I think it really gels with my character. being brave, real and together can be seen throughout everyone you interact with and everyone is just very friendly and happy. There's never really a moment where you're scared to interact with someone or the office atmosphere is depressing.
How would you rate Virgin Media O2 initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
3/5
I think it's good, there is a lot of equality throughout the company as you can see many people from all different walks of life get an opportunity although more potentially could be done.
How would you rate Virgin Media O2 CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Virgin Media O2 to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think the company is extremely good to work for, the teams I've interacted with care about the people. The culture is positive within my team and I believe that overall VMO2 is a great company to work for.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
I didn't really have any expectations coming into the scheme as I had done a law degree and swapping to finance I just wanted to learn the experiences but I would say the scheme matched what they said they would within the recruitment process.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
I think it's all about being genuine to you, the assessment centres aren't about the smartest person in the room and as long as you are being "real" and authentic to yourself that's the best you can do.
