Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involved assisting staff with networking issues or queries, as well as general maintenance of the site network, plus working on improvement projects.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, assisting in creating documentation as well as having control over the sites DNS servers.

I had occasional progress meetings for the project work I was doing as well as more support and guidance from the rest of the networking team for my day to day activities

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed working at the Daresbury Laboratory and talking with people on other teams to get a good understanding of what went on outside my networking role at the company.
