AI Testing and Product Engineer Intern Review

In my role, I worked with Pearlify, an AI platform aimed at improving business efficiency. My day-to-day work varied throughout the week — I focused on developing an HR chatbot to automate employee queries, collaborated on creating AI use cases for the health and science sectors, and contributed to building automation workflows to streamline client proposal processes. I also attended two weekly team meetings to discuss progress, share feedback, and deepen my understanding of AI applications and product development.

The level of responsibility was similar to the rest of the team, as we all worked on shared tasks and contributed to project development. However, on presentation day, we were individually responsible for presenting our own findings and outcomes from the internship, which allowed us to take ownership of our work and showcase what we had learned

I developed key AI skills such as prompt engineering, LLM applications, task automation, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). I also strengthened my abilities in market research, business analysis, and project management. The internship helped me discover new strengths in creating business use cases and adapting to remote collaboration, while also highlighting areas to improve, like presentation skills. These experiences have guided my goal of pursuing a career in AI product management, particularly in the healthcare sector.

I received a great deal of support and guidance throughout my internship. The team was very welcoming overall, and the Operations Manager was especially kind and inclusive toward me and my fellow Qatari intern, always responding promptly whenever we needed help. Our two supervisors were highly knowledgeable and actively engaged, even organizing additional webinars and workshops on AI and ML to help us build our skills. The rest of the team was also easy to get along with and maintained clear, professional communication, creating a positive and supportive environment to learn in.

The company culture was very open, lenient, and overall quite “chill.” The atmosphere encouraged learning rather than pressure, and the supervisors were very understanding of our level and the quality of work expected from us. Communication was easy and comfortable — we could openly discuss any issues or challenges we faced. This supportive and relaxed environment made it easier to focus on learning, collaborating, and developing our skills throughout the internship.

I really enjoyed my internship experience. The projects were engaging and gave me hands-on exposure to AI in real business contexts, making the work both interesting and meaningful. The team was supportive, friendly, and easy to work with, which created a positive and comfortable environment. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that not only helped me build valuable skills but also gave me clarity on the type of career path I want to pursue after graduation — particularly in AI product management.
