Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Arm?
I would describe my experience as prosperous. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to write code that isn’t just theoretical—it’s actively used and directly contributes to the success of the project I’m working on. Seeing my work make a real impact has been incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that Arm collaborates on so many innovative projects with partners around the world that are shaping technology to make everyday life smarter and more connected. Along the way, I’ve continued to learn about the most effective tools and best practices for collaboration. The onboarding process was smooth, and my team’s friendliness and support helped me feel confident and integrated in no time.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My work involves both research and efficient coding to implement algorithms from mathematical research papers and produce specific results. While much of this is independent work, an equally important part involves presenting my findings to senior engineers — showcasing performance graphs, explaining how theoretical concepts are transformed into algorithms, and demonstrating how these can be optimized using intrinsics or assembly. I’ve also had the great opportunity to work with Arm’s Neon technology, an advanced SIMD architecture extension for Arm’s A-profile and R-profile processors that enables high-performance parallel computing.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
My team encourages my growth by assigning tasks that involve multiple stages and allow me to apply my knowledge independently. They provide guidance and support whenever I encounter challenges, offering direction without limiting creativity. Once the work is completed, I present my results to the team, where constructive feedback and recognition help refine the outcome and strengthen my skills.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
My compensation package is fair and reflective of the responsibilities and learning opportunities in my role, with benefits that support both professional growth and well-being.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Arm is an incredible company with a wide range of opportunities for growth and exploration. During my one-year internship and now as a graduate, I’ve learned that Arm encourages rotation across different teams, allowing you to experience various types of work and discover where your skills fit best. The company provides strong support, and most teams use diverse tools that are valuable across many kinds of projects. Moreover, Arm’s vision for the future and its forward-thinking approach to AI inspire a fresh perspective — highlighting how innovation and creativity continue to expand and shape the world around us.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
I would rate it a 4 out of 5, mainly because of the strong emphasis on adaptability and continuous learning. You’re consistently given new tasks that differ from previous ones, providing opportunities to develop new skills while applying and refining existing ones.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Support is great. Questions have always been answered and information has been provided when needed.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Arm’s flexible work schedule allows for a healthy balance between professional and personal life. There’s no pressure to work overtime, and the company actively promotes well-being over exhaustion. I appreciate that whether you’re a morning person or a night owl, the flexibility enables you to pursue your passions outside of work. After meeting many colleagues with diverse schedules, I can see how this approach contributes to productivity across the company.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture at Arm is fantastic. The Manchester office regularly organizes engaging events — the most recent being a vibrant Latin Celebration. Through these opportunities to join various communities, such as the graduates’ network and the wellbeing group, people connect and get to know one another better. The company fosters an inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and perspectives in the right settings.
How would you rate Arm initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
I can only say it's excellent. The DEI team is doing an amazing job.
How would you rate Arm CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
I would rate Arm’s CSR initiatives very positively. The company’s dedication to sustainability, education, and social responsibility is evident, and it provides employees with multiple opportunities to make a real difference.

Yes
Why?
Due to their many innovative upcoming projects, as well as the inclusive culture and the flexibility to make your schedule the way it fits you.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Very well, since I am using the programming languages they said I would and I am contributing to projects I was told I would work on.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Arm?
Definitely have a good understanding of Git and do not be afraid to ask questions. As long as you are confident in your skills and knowledge, things work out.
