Overview of the Role
Overall, how would you describe your experience at Unilever?
I absolutely love it. The grad scheme is made up of 6, 6 month placements where I have the ability to jump across several different teams in cyber, general tech, data and analytics, or any of the other grad areas within Unilever (and as you can imagine there are a lot!). The company culture is excellent, I spend a lot of my time out of work with the other grads, which makes going to the office every day even better!
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I've worked in cyber engagement, security engineering, and strategy. Each of these has a different role within the business, but the thing I've enjoyed most is getting a much better understanding of cyber through several different lenses while having the opportunity to relocate across the UK.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I've been given some significant responsibilities, driving huge innovation activities within Unilever and been supported through the process.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

The number I provided earlier is not the full number. The benefits package is better than anything I've seen at any other company (though I'm not sure it's publicly available so won't share here).
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

We've had some formal training courses, but the majority of learning is on the job.

How is the support you receive?

Excellent -- each grad is assigned a "Career sponsor" who is with you throughout the entire scheme. All of my line managers have also been highly supportive, and before joining the company I was assigned a buddy to ask any questions to who was a grad at the time.
How is your work-life balance?

WLB is excellent at Unilever, and we have many wellbeing initiatives that happen should you feel like you are struggling.

Do your research!!!!!!! Know about how we are leveraging tech, marketing campaigns we are running, what senior leaders in the company are saying (it's not hard to find!!)
