Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Manchester Metropolitan University?
My experience at Manchester Metropolitan University was extremely positive. I worked there as a recruitment agent for student work, where my main responsibilities included sourcing and placing students into part-time and temporary roles, both within the university and with external partners.
This role allowed me to engage closely with students, understand their needs, and support them in gaining valuable work experience alongside their studies. I also collaborated with various departments and employers to match the right candidates with the right opportunities, which enhanced my communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Overall, it was a rewarding experience that not only deepened my understanding of student support services but also allowed me to contribute meaningfully to student development and employability
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
In my role as a recruitment agent for student work, I took on a variety of responsibilities that supported student employability and university operations.
A key part of my role involved helping students navigate the recruitment process for on-campus and external roles. I regularly assisted with right to work checks, ensuring compliance with employment regulations, and helped students access available work opportunities by guiding them through the application process.
I was also actively involved in supporting university events, which included helping with planning, setup, and coordination on the day — making sure everything ran smoothly for both students and staff. These experiences strengthened my organisational skills and my ability to adapt in fast-paced environments.
