Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Arm?
Excellent. I don't think I could ask for much more.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
over 2 of my 4 rotations, I have worked on creating a code generating tool to save 10000 lines of boilerplate code, and in firmware and linux kernel bringup. I particularly enjoyed the kernel bringup: working with a great team and contributing important work whilst also having the freedom and support to learn an awful lot in the area!
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Within the limitation that rotations are only 6 months long, in each of my teams I am well supported by my team, and the work I produce is used and has a made a meaningful difference to the product that team is working towards. I get great satisfaction from this.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Good pay & bonuses, including annual and mid year review opportunities. Flexible working and generous holiday. Other benefits are good too.
I think these are fair for my role and progression.
The environment these benefits create allow me to focus on doing my best work, which I greatly appreciate.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I am meeting many new people from all across the company and working on many different projects whilst on grad rotations. I am getting a very good understanding of many areas in the company and this broad view and wide network will be great as I progress in my career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I am gaining experience by working on things and getting support from my teams (who are always very knowledgeable). I am learning a lot of practical skills and domain knowledge this way. Loads of formal training is available should I want/need this.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
My buddy was great when I started as someone who I could ask all the silly company-specific questions to. My teams and managers have all been either good or great at giving advice and help when needed.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
I couldn't ask for anything better from a full-time job
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The company is generally very hybrid-working focused, and everyone is understanding of this. Some office days are relatively quiet and some days it feels like almost everyone is in the office. Most teams set at least a day or two that everyone in that team will be in.
Everyone is welcoming and inclusive.
How would you rate Arm initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Employee resource groups provide places for specific DEI topics to be discussed, as well as (self-identifying) private employee groups where you can discuss particular concerns or thoughts with like-minded colleagues
How would you rate Arm CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Volunteering is actively encouraged. Good outreach programs too.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Arm to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a great place to work, and there are many interesting people here to meet and learn from
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
I had already interned at Arm so I already had a good idea what it would be like.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Arm?
Don't overthink it and be yourself. If you are in a technical interview, explain your thinking and don't worry if you are asked a question you don't know the answer to.
