Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Arm?
Arm is an amazing place to work with supportive colleagues to help you learn and grow as a Software Developer. There are many opportunities at Arm ranging from low-level system programming through to designing machine learning applications with the possibility of transitioning to any of these roles for a 6 month rotation period.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main responsibilities are being able to learn complex codebases whilst being able to deliver high quality code through collaboration with others. I have had the opportunity to learn so much within my own timeframe without feeling rushed or as though I needed to get the work delivered instantly, creating a really nice working environment encouraging us to do our best and actually understand and take ownership of what we produce.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Throughout my rotations I have had the ability to contribute to tools which are now widely used inside and outside the company as well as various projects which are used outside of the company such as the Linux kernel and Xen hypervisor.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
Arm provides many benefits such as;
- Private Medical Insurance
- Private Dental Insurance
- Health MOT
- Eye Tests
- Salary Sacrifice Car Leasing
- RSUs

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
With more and more software being built for Arm platforms, there is a range of opportunities to learn various new fields and various skills along the way. I feel as though I will be able to make meaningful impact to any project or any company I work with in the future with my skills developed at Arm.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Arm provides huge amounts of training opportunities by courses ran outside the company through to having access to platforms like OReilly and Udemy Business. Furthermore we have a lot of internal training material produced by colleagues who volunteer their time to produce presentations otherwise known as "Doughnuts".

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
You have a 1:1 meeting every week with your line manager where you can discuss topics to do with work or just personal time to connect. You also have a 1:1 meeting with a mentor who can help teach you new skills and provide you with a different perspective on how to approach a task you might be struggling with.
How is your work-life balance?

The work life balance is amazing, Arm allows you to work through tasks at your own reasonable pace but encorages you to learn as much as you can so you can have a greater impact in the teams you work with.

Arm has a great atmosphere with hybrid working policies. Many people come into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays where events are setup to encourage collaboration, socialising and learning.
