Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Unilever?
I am loving working for Unilever. It is an amazing company with a great culture, and I feel that my team & Future Careers are all very supportive with helping me achieve my goals and reach my potential.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
On the UFLP Programme, my role changes every 6 months, so my responsibilities are constantly changing. However, I have been developing and strengthening skills that are transferrable across various roles within Unilever's Supply Chain. The elements of the role I enjoy the most are building my network, developing my communication skills and having exposure to many aspects of the business.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
As a UFL, you are given many responsibilities and are challenged to make a difference and leave a 'legacy' behind once you've moved to your next rotation.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Unilever offers a great benefits envelope including a 25% additional pay to contribute towards your pension.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I am being exposed to many areas of the Supply Chain, and I'm able to work across Unilever's different business groups, which is enabling me to have a broad understanding of everything the company produces.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
On the grad scheme, we aren't given much formal supply chain training, however, I am learning new skills every day through my daily operations. And each time I change rotation, these day-to-day operations change, meaning that every 6 months I am developing new skills.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
I receive consistent support from my career sponsor, line managers and mentor. If I ever have any issues or concerns in my role, my career sponsor gives me great advice on how to improve my working environment, and my mentor has also done the same.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Unilever is very accommodating to your personal lives, and I always feel that I have a great work-life balance and am able to switch off once I've finished work for the day/week.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
everyone is very friendly, very helpful and very supportive - especially when I am new to a role. In office roles, the company offers hybrid working which allows me to have a great work/life balance. In the factory, I am in every day, but my hours are 7am-3pm, which is great as I still have time for extra curricular activities after work.
How would you rate Unilever initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Unilever is very inclusive to people of all abilities, ages, genders and backgrounds.
How would you rate Unilever CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
They have a great focus on CSR and sustainability.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I am really enjoying the UFLP scheme and I feel like I am learning so much, and developing so many skills that I potentially wouldn't have the opportunity to build in other companies
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Future Careers was very transparent about the UFLP scheme and what it entails.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Unilever?
Be yourself, research into Unilever's core values and ensure your values are aligned to the company's.
