Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in placements across supply chain. I work on tendering and contracts, speaking to suppliers, and managing projects. I typically have calls for supply chain training or governance to help support my work and develop my tenders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love the flexibility of my Degree Apprenticeship, I get hands on experience in supply chain but there is also plenty of opportunity for me to support in different areas of the business and fully see where I enjoy working.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt so many new skills with my apprenticeship. From developing my soft skills, such as my public speaking and my networking, to some of my hard skills, like tendering, contract negotiations and payment terms.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
After our first placement it is up to us to organise how where we want to go in the business and it is on us to arrange with our next managers any future discussions. We do however have support with our university discussions from the Early Careers team to help structure how the uni works and any issues.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive so much support from E.ON. I have contacts within Supply Chain who are willing to support me with my development but also the Early Careers team. I have a mentor as well, who is amazing at helping support my development and has been a great help in supporting with placement issues. At E.ON there is so much support and the more I networked the more support I receive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive some support from my uni, I would say most of my support comes from E.ON, however I am not based in the city where my uni is. I am at E.ON 4 days a week so it makes the most sense I have the most contact with them. The uni gives some support if I reach out and ask but I mainly speak to the uni once every 3 months for my progress reviews.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Learing the academic models and theories helps me understand the reasons behind why I am doing the work within my role and then it also supports the wider team in supply chain for developing their understanding of why we do the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lots of different extra curriculars to get involved with at E.ON. I am currently in Women in Leadership to help develop my professional skills as a woman in the workplace. I am also project managing an annual conference within my business area which is an additional opportunity to my job role to network with other colleagues across the support functions area.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend E.ON UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
E.ON UK is a great place to work. It has helped develop me as a person massively. They provide so many different opportunities to support with my professional development but also my personal development. I have made some amazing networks here and I enjoy coming to work everyday. The work is challenging but engaging and I have built up my skill set massively within the 2 years I have been here. I would massively recommend E.ON UK and especially through the Degree Apprenticeship route.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Make sure you understand the business you are applying for. Utilise the company websites and have a high level knowledge of some of the big projects E.ON UK are working on. It shows that you are actually interested in where you want to work and have done further research into where you want to go.
