Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Virgin Media O2?
Was an excellent graduate scheme. Very structured and allowed us to come in with no experience and built me up to go into a mid-level account management-style role. I had no experience in telemcomms or sales but the scheme accelerated my development in these areas.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Responsibility for working with large clients on large and complex deals.
Ability to network with senior and experienced individuals and learn from them
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Even though I was new, all the teams I worked in gave me real responsibilities and allowed me the freedom to lead on some large/important projects. They also valued my fresh perspective.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I have now finished and landed a permanent role in a position I would not have been able to secure without going through the scheme.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Plenty of formal training at the start and throughout, but I gained the most value from the informal learning we got on the job.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Excellent support structure, both formal and informal. We had a scheme manager, scheme sponsor/lead as well as our line managers on the rotations. We also had mentors as well as the chance to lean on the people around us in a more informal capacity. Everyone was very helpful and there is an excellent grad-alumni network (which I am now part of).
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
How would you rate Virgin Media O2 initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate Virgin Media O2 CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Large focus on this area and we get 5 volunteering days a year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Virgin Media O2 to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Excellent people in the business who will help you. The size of the business also means you can get a wide range of experience to prepare you for a permanent role.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Wasn't too sure what to expect when I started, but I quickly started enjoying the role, especially when we rotated.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
Be yourself - the focus is on personality, desire to learn/develop and interpersonal skills rather than pre-existing technical knowledge or experience.
