Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves a 50/50 split across the HR and Corporate Planning teams. So far I have had many introductions to key systems and stakeholders in the organisation, I have been able to support the running and planning of events, and picked up important administrative tasks to support the running of the teams. Also, I have some exciting opportunities to take on new projects that will support the success of our new strategy at HRP.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

So far I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship. I have had the opportunity to travel to different palaces and meet many different people across the organisation. Everyone in the organisation has been very welcoming and supportive!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I would say the best skill I have been able to develop so far is communication. The amount of networking I've been exposed to has encouraged me to speak to people in more senior roles and different departments. This has allowed me to grow confidence and curiosity. A new skill I have learnt is the use of systems in day to day tasks. HRP has also provided opportunities to attend training courses that will strengthen these skills, such as Microsoft Excel.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My support network in the workplace lease with my learning providers in order to ensure that I am meeting the objectives of the apprenticeship course and that my day to day work evidences this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have great support from all my colleagues, even if they are not directly involved in my apprenticeship! If I ever have questions or am struggling, I never feel ashamed to speak up or ask for help. My managers always make time to have check ins with me throughout the week.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has arranged frequent catch ups and tutoring sessions to support the learning side of my course. They are welcoming and always encourage me to reach out if I have any problems.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

HRP are great at arranging social events and offer many extra curricular clubs that employees can join. On my second day, I attended two different events!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Historic Royal Palaces?
Just be you! HRP focus on an individuals potential and ability to learn, not the perfect candidate that knows everything already. Show enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
