Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
Great experience overall. I've been exposed to some excellent learning experiences, supportive and knowledgeable colleagues, and have been involved in some high-quality and interesting projects, which has been inspirational.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My main responsibilities have included (but not limited to) client relationship management, negotiations with the relevant bodies including local councils and the Valuation office Agency, and valuing commercial buildings for property tax purposes and providing budgets to clients. I have taken on other responsibilities such as being the data champion of the team, making databases and templates that are useful for the team, and been involved in business development opportunities internally and externally.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I get to see the results of my own work come to fruition and deal with clients that are happy with our work all while being well supported by the team through the highs and lows.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
The firm's pension scheme seems second to none and is well above average regarding employers contributions.
Annual bonuses have been higher than expected and I have felt very well renumerated for the stage in my career.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
As mentioned in my experience I am surrounded by supportive and knowledgeable colleagues and involved in high quality work. I feel like I have been involved in a very sharp learning curve which should greatly benefit my future career. I also have access to good personal support for my APC.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Being involved in a lot of different areas with different asset types has consistently challenged me to develop a diverse skill-set. I have been supported in learning a large array of different software and greatly develop further other skillsets that were of interest previously such as excel, coding/programming, graphics, modelling etc.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
I have consistently received excellent support from my wider team including Head of department, Line Manager, and other senior surveyors and staff. Other teams have been friendly and open for answering questions about the APC, general surveying, or their team in particular.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Work life could be better as I have been consistently working beyond 40 hours a week, however this has mainly been done by choice. My team have been very flexible if I want to arrive late or leave early as long as the work is complete and I'm not undercutting my contracted hours, which has given me some flexibility.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The firm has been very welcoming encouraging growth and high standards and has been reasonably flexible with remote working options. I've never had any problems and have integrated well with the team and wider business and felt included.
How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Very good. The firm holds many awareness sessions on topics surrounding equality, diversity and inclusion. There is a reverse mentorship scheme that helps boost accountability for directors in the team. There are multiple groups that offer support, news and events.
How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
The firm is heavily involved in sustainability initiatives and heavily encourages involvement in charity work and volunteering. Personally I have been involved with a local food bank on a periodic basis.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Very welcoming and friendly but not afraid to challenge your skillsets and knowledge. Very good for career progression and generally a very nice atmosphere to work in.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Very well explained as bullet pointed typical responsibilities in the job advert, and going over in more details throughout the recruitment process including hypothetical job types
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?
Prior to recruiting think about the job you are applying for and relate some of your cover letter to what you expect you might be involved in. I've seen many falls in applications not showing any link to the job they've specifically applied for.
