Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
Ok, there is great access to software, databases and content which I really like. The people are also generally nice to work with but there was a real lack of structure in my office. No proper onboarding with lots of information not being relayed to me. I really had to teach myself and continue to have to which is a lot to manage.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Primarily working in valuation, residential and commercial. I enjoy writing the valuation reports.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
2/5
Kind of, some members of my team make me feel valued but others do not. Sometimes it does feel like I am disregarded.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
1/5
I think given the level of education required for the role it is very poorly compensated. It is hardly enough to get by which I think is poor given the amount of student debt we have to take on in order to be considered for the role.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
2/5
Good access to software and information which is very valuable. They have a lot of resources which is good.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
I feel I was developing but a lot of the time that was down to me. I wasn't given a lot of support and lacked any formal training on a regular basis.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Really like my line manager and my team, felt supported by most members.
How is your work-life balance?
2/5
Not good, the commute especially makes it very hard to have a good work life balance combined with having to be in the office most days.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
2/5
Nice people but quite a lot are very backward thinking, not a good environment for minority groups.
How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
2/5
I am in a regional office which is probably very different to the London offices and other city offices. My office has almost no diversity and it is not championed properly.
How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
2/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
No
Why?
Not the best culture and awful compensation for the workload.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
Pretty much, still was surprised by some things I had to do which I didn't think was translated in the job role description but it wasn't wildly different.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?
It is really about whether you will fit in with the team, at a graduate level they are not expecting you to know a lot. I feel that they are more concerned with liking you and if you will be a team player.
