Working as a design intern making models and attending meetings with the team

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes surprised how much they gave me, making key parts for a large project that rely on accuracy of my part. Also leading an investigation into new equipment for potential use.

New CAD skills, presentation, learnt about aerospace engineering (currently studying mechanical), lots of networking and departments to visit

Lots of support, usually have line manger and early careers to go to or all the other managers in my department would help if need be

Company culture was brilliant very positive, mixed age team, went on team building and usually get food with the team at lunch

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

The learning that university dosent provide is outstanding, it makes you feel prepped to start a grad once finish final year of university. I would want to return as a grad if all goes well

What advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems

Get into a year in industry of internship massively increases chances of grad hire with very limited roles that most go to returners. Also don't be afraid to ask for advice, help or teaching from anyone in the company everyone knows what it was like to start as a grad/intern.
