Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role at Savills involved working alongside some of the best professionals in the industry on projects all over the UK. I went on numerous site visits, completed documentation such as RCAs and PMPs, attended progress meetings and completed snag checks. As i progressed through the placement, my work became more independent and i was able to work with different departments to expand my knowledge further.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
As my placement progressed the level of responsibility increased. By the end of my time at the company i was attending my own site visits, completing my own documentation and meeting clients alone. Everyday i was given my own tasks to complete, however there was always help there when needed.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Whilst working at Savills i have strengthened my interpersonal skills, which has helped me gain the confidence to speak with any member of the construction industry. I have learnt the ability to be concise with my wording and make sure everything i describe is detailed and articulated well to avoid confusion across different members of a construction team. Overall Savills has helped me develop every skill required for this industry.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Every member of the Savills team were there to help during my time at the company. Every question was answered in depth and the detail my colleagues went into was extremely helpful. There was always someone there supporting everything i did.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone at Savills was extremely welcoming. I was involved in numerous social events where i met people from all of the different departments. This included work socials, as well as out of work rounders tournaments, drinks, lunches and networking events. Not only was my experience extremely valuable, the friendships and connections i have made through the company are amazing and something i am so grateful to have recieved.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I could not recommend Savills more. The experience is the best you could ask for, the support you recieve could not be any better and the general atmosphere of the whole company is amazing. After only 4 weeks at the company i am extremely sad to have to leave such a brilliant workplace with so many exciting opportunities and prospects for the future.

If you have a genuine passion for the industry, then just be yourself. Savills is a place which prides themselves on their people. Applying for Savills you need to be personable, dynamic in different situations and flexible. Be innovative, creative and entrepreneurial.
