Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
It was data engineering, so I would build pipelines to take data in one form and transform it into a form that is helpful for analytics. This is the simplest way to put it for someone who is not technical.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Quite a bit for an intern, but not an excessive amount.

Yep, I got better at using PySpark. I had to do lots of presentations, so I got a lot better at creating and delivering presentations.

We had daily standups, and if I had any questions, I wouldn't hesitate to walk up to my mentors' desks.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very friendly, very open. I got to talk with lots of Team Leads and some Managers. You would have to go seek this though; it's not given to you on a sliver platter.

What advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
Carefully examine what you're interested in and apply accordingly. Don't hesitate to ask HR if there's something that piques your interest, and ask what department works on it. However, it's better to be in the firm doing something different because they encourage exploration
