Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The role was mainly focused on data engineering. We got an internship project that we worked on for 10 weeks. Mine was focused on creating a data model for reporting and implementing an MVP for this data model. So I did data validation and built data pipelines in pyspark to implement the data model.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
There was a lot of room for own thoughts and development, the tasks where clear but no to strict so I was quite free in making my own design choices and using my own knowledge to come up with a solution.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I developed my python programming skills and improved my knowledge in pyspark. In addition I improved my communication skills and learned a lot of finance concepts which were related to the semantics of my project.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had daily standups with my project lead and in addition had a personal mentor that I could always contact with any kinds of problems or concerns. In the beginning of the internship I got extensive trainings to prepare me for my internship role. So overall I got a lot of guidance of my internship and could also decide how much I want to get based on my needs.

The company culture is really friendly and supportive. There is drive but not too much pressure so overall it is really good.

What advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
Prepare leetcode and data analysis for the interviews. Otherwise just be yourself and dont be too stressed, the people are very friendly.
