Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I had to implement a new tool for my team from backend to frontend. A day of work consists of writing code, discussing new features with the team, getting reviews for my work and testing my new components

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, i was able to make my own decisions when discussing the architecture of my project and discuss them with the team afterwards. Also I was responsible for any issues that might have appeared and had to fix them.

I learned many tech skills and technologies like modern C++, Apache Kafka, Cloud development, databases, and frontend frameworks like react. I also developed other skills like communication and had the opportunity to network.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The Bloomberg culture and atmosphere makes for a perfect workinf enviromnet. While focused on high quality work and growth, the atmosphere is still relaxed and friendly and everyone is always happy to help or just have a chat

It was a great opportunity both to expand my technical skills and to network. Also the social events were great with a lot of fun events each week

Make sure you speak your thoughts clearly during interviews and once you are there make the most out of it, be curious and ask a lot of questions and most importantly have fun!
