Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The week was split into Analytics and Sales days, the first fo which mainly consisted of training session, masterclasses, product deployment calls and shadowing/ practicing. The sales days mainly consisted of calling and conversing with clients on new functions and products, arranging demos and general meetings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
As much as possible given the framework in which it takes place. You do get exposure without supervision to clients directly, varying in importance and ranks, and you get exposure to all business units.

As you are assigned each a mentor and manager for both departments, you have a lot of guidance and feedback throughout the internships. Furthermore, there was a large number of employees that were additionally involved in organising andand delivering sessions to the interns.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture within Bloomberg is exceptional and unique. The level of friendliness and amicability despite a high level of performance is surprising and welcoming. The general atmosphere is open and welcoming while still feeling important and professional.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my internship a lot, especially due to its thorough and planned program, however I would have enjoyed it more if it aligned better with my personal career plans, meaning more finance focused.

What advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
Be well aware of the role you are entering and thoroughly inform yourself about what the work entails. If you want to work in high and applied finance, this is probably not the right place for you unless you like sales.
