Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Performed calculations such as transfer values and trivial commutations, attended training for different areas in pensions, attended trustee/client meetings, helped set up models for calculations, had meetings/chats with partners and directors at the office to discuss their career and advice, drafted reports such as annual funding updates and summary funding statements.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, the calculations I did went to clients (after a few rounds of checks) and every bit of work I did was part of a project or piece of work that needed doing - never felt like I was doing something just for the sake of having something to do.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt a lot of new skills and ideas through the training sessions that we had such as the calculations, different areas of pensions, and there were also training sessions on the other areas of the business that I wasn't directly involved in. I also had to do a project over the internship which focused on one area of pensions which I researched and then presented to colleagues towards the end of my placement. There was also online learning to do as well as the in person training, which was useful if stuck on a topic or for the research project.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had a performance manager who I had a meeting with every week. Also most people in the office gave me work to do and they always spoke through and explained the work and then would be happy to answer any questions I had whilst doing the work. They also provided feedback on every work that I did.
