Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was in the products and propositions team for British Gas residential. I was assigned a project to complete from start to finish to design propositions and offers in relation to a partner they were working with. I performed research, market sizing, cost analysis, performed a survey and presented my proposal. I was also given a competitor deck to update and send out to the company.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given complete ownership of my project and was able to steer it in whichever direction I felt best.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Complete support from my manager he was really helpful. Support from intern talent managers (specific to stream) was also really helpful. Support from the emerging talent (responsible for al interns) was poor and lacking. They were slow to reply and not very transparent and often opened messages without letting people know they actually were helping it.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

WFH culture. In office, was a really nice atmosphere although quite empty throughout. However, the teams that were in were all a good laugh and it was a really nice environment to work in. It was very relaxed.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed my time despite not wanting to be placed in British Gas. I enjoyed the complete ownership I took of a project and also found it really interesting.
