Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Day-to-day tasks of each marketing intern vary. The role of summer intern depends on which team, and which company you are assigned to. My role overview is to catch up with the commercial team, conduct research and focus on the tasks being assigned, and take on ad-hoc responsibilities if available.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

It was satisfactory to take on responsibilities since day 1 in role, and feeling like being a formal member of the team.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes! Ranging from skills to tackle quantitative data and qualitative information, industry-specific insights, gaining proficiency in various tools such as Power BI and Excel, plus the soft skills such as time management and prioritisation and communication skills were all developed and improved.

Support and guidance were sufficiently in place and from every colleague, other interns, and managers. This comes as arranged training sessions and informal chats.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture is nice and welcoming, embracing all kinds of people into the wider team and creating opportunities for people to network and feel included. The atmosphere at Centrica is supportive, everyone is willing to help and support others whenever possible. It is also clear that people at Centrica are truly dedicated to the grand mission of greener and fairer future and contributing to the community by having many charity initiatives.
