Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Working within a category of Procurement. It's a varied role that can constitute anything from contract analysis to supplier meetings. The type of work will vary based on whether you're placed within an indirect or direct category. Often it was working with contracts with the objective of renewal or governance.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Interns are given responsibility to manage a project. This was a good level of responsibility, but had a limited impact on the wider category.

Significantly built stakeholder engagement skills as well as Excel skills. The job also teaches project management skills, which may vary in complexity depending on the scale of the project given.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Emerging Talent were very supportive throughout the process, providing talks and guidance multiple times per week. Support from graduates and managers was very positive and they were always willing to help. Not all managers within my team provided the same level of support to their interns though.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is outstanding, with colleagues always being receptive to questions and coffee chats. The work life balance is good and people are happy to get to know each other personally, often over lunch in the canteen.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
The internship was a good learning experience, with plenty of opportunities to take responsibility of projects. Procurement at Centrica is quite admin-heavy, which could be tedious at times, but it was an overall enjoyable experience. I had a challenging professional relationship with my manager, pertaining to unclear expectations, which made the experience less enjoyable, though this was an anomaly on the scheme.
