Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role was to create reports, format data in Excel, and conduct research into many areas related to my team's role in the business.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I ended up being given quite a lot of responsibility as my manager went on leave and I had to cover a lot of his role in this time.

I have developed skills in salesforce reporting, excel, presentation skills, and communicating in a corporate environment. I have also developed soft skills of understanding how to change tone depending on which stakeholders I am communicating to.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

At the beginning, we received guidance from the emerging talent. Initially, my manager was very busy with other work so guidance was sporadic. It improved as the time went along, and when he went on leave I had a lot of guidance from other people in the team as well.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

No-one comes into the office so it was challenging to gauge but when people were in the culture was pleasant. Everyone was very supportive and helpful which was great.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I found the beginning quite frustrating as I wasn't getting very much guidance or work, but I really enjoyed it once I got given more work and responsibility. I also very much enjoyed the social side of it and getting to know other interns - having a big cohort was a big positive and great learning opportunity.
