Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

We were 6 engineers, split into 2 groups. Each group was multidisciplinary and the projects were really different. My project was process heavy whilst the other more financial. You're asked to do as much as you can, and allowed to go out of scope to better your learning. A final 60 page report and final technical presentation is expected, but you manage your own deadlines and depth of work.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

The project was something that was actually to be done for the company. We were given all the resources and treated like real colleagues. We all had responsibility and stuck to deadlines but managers were understanding and I believe that if we hadn't stuck to deadlines we wouldn't get in trouble.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

They were really good at providing alot of workshops- excel, leadership, presenting. I learned how to read industry diagrams and follow industry standards. You have to present alot so that also improved.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

We had a buddy, an intern talent manager and a graduate to help with our project all around our age. We had very helpful line managers and other graduates were often there to help. The support was really there.
