Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Day to day i spend time going out on inspections independently, shadowing rent reviews, exploring vacant properties and meeting with contractors. I also spend time within the office communicating with Tenants and contractors ensuring any questions are answered.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes; from my second week I was trusted to go out and complete inspections with Tenants by myself, I was grateful for this as it made me realise the company had trust in me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have broadened my communication skills whilst this job has been taking place, talking with Tenants and others on a day-to-day basis. I have also learnt much more about the insides to the job and what knowledge you need to become a Chartered Surveyor.

I have received a lot of guidance since I have started my summer placement, I feel comfortable to ask my colleagues if I have something I have a question on or worried about.

I really like the company culture and atmosphere. There is always happy faces in the office with a general chatty and friendly atmosphere.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

So far I am really enjoying my Summer Placement. I am on a 12 week placement and currently around 8 weeks in. I like that with every week that comes I am doing something different and gaining more responsibility.
