Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Assisting surveyors with day to day task such as site visits, H&S inspections, helping produce service charge budgets. Meeting with clients and tenants to discuss improvements or issues with the properties we manage.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
To be honest I wasn't but I think I came at a very unlucky time for the team. The team were a couple surveyors down which meant a lot of the time they were too busy to give me major responsibilities and had to ensure they were done themselves.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My skills have definitely been enhanced such as communication and and team work collaborating with others in the team to ensure tasks have been met. I have also learnt a lot outside of the degree which you wouldn't be able to learn in the classroom.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The support has been great throughout the process, I have been lucky enough to tell the team about my long term goals of moving to London and they have been able to provide me with 2 weeks work experience in the London office where I feel very lucky as I don't think many employers would have offered this kind of support for my long term endeavours.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Happily say it has been one of the nicest companies to work for, everyone has a really kind attitude to working together and helping one another out. One of the mains reasons i picked to an internship with FG.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have enjoyed the internship i think it has been invaluable to me and my personal development and my future goals. However, I would have liked more interns/ grads in my office I was the only intern and there was only one grad compared to other offices with up to 5 interns and graduates each I think it would have made the social side of the internship better.

Definitely worth it, FG are very up and coming firm growing hugely in the last 5 years. In terms of your career development they put it first ensuring you're well prepared for any task or exam you will sit.
