Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Being a software engineer in Arm's Architecture Technology Group. Working flexibly in office or from home, being part of the team; building and maintaining software.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. From day 1 I was treated exactly the same as other members of the team, assigned real tickets, and enabled to make meaningful contributions to the product.

Developed and learnt many new technical and soft skills. Including (but not limited to) enterprise git; advanced debugging; writing technical documentation; agile workflows; macos; line-of-business; and effective internal communication

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Lots of offers for training if I wanted it. Team were very useful when it came to answering questions. Team always attempted to provide extra context for interns when discussing technical problems. Useful weekly intern training calls about Arm's business in a wider context (as well as some technical calls).

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Extremely relaxed and welcoming. The team operates with a lot of trust, not only that you'll do well, but also trust that you'll ask for help when your stuck. This relaxed attitude may not be the best for people that struggle with work ethic as I was rarely chased up with deadlines, but for people that can handle the responsibility, this atmosphere reduces the stress and impostor-syndrome tenfold.

I had an excellent time, the people were lovely, the company was great, and the work was interesting and challenging. I am hoping for a return offer.

Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Arm
Apply early. September/October/early November is the time. Arm takes in a LOT of interns but even more applications. So getting in early is really useful.
