Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Working on open-source software. Most of my work was on CI and build systems, working with compilers, CMake and Python

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a good amount of responsibility. I had a lot of agency to choose my work, but the work I did was meaningful and my contributions reached the open source projects we were working on. I also developed a lot of tooling for internal use, that the team genuinely needed.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received continuous support and guidance. I had an assigned 'buddy' who was very helpful, and my manager was also easily accessible at all times. I also had regular check-ins with my manager, and I received copious ramp-up materials at the start of the internship

What advice would you give to others applying to Arm

Research the company and the division you're applying for. If you can, get in touch with someone who's worked at the same office you're applying to. Understanding the culture will really help with hirevue and interview stage.
