Software Engineer Intern Review

I was assigned a mentor which helps me throughout my project i got assigned. The support was massive although it was a bit open ended project I had a great understanding thanks to the training given to me prior starting the research. I have weekly meeting with my mentor and HR also sends us biweekly emails which encourages us to seek out to them either for feedback or support. Although the role is hybrid I come to the office everyday as this helps me being motivated and productive plus the canteen is amazing! The setup at the office is amazing too, very comfortable. Areas in the office include massage chairs, ps5, puzzles, amazing kitchen areas and free coffee! I have daily stand ups on the morning with the whole team where we update each other on what we did each day and what our aim of the day is. After the morning stand ups we go work for a few hours and then eat lunch as a team and then we go back to work again. After work they provide a free gym site, very complete which ja where I spend my time after work. They also have many different fitness classes and even a running class!

I think the amount of work given was fair. The deadline we set internally doesn’t feel very stressful but I do find the work challenging, which means that I am learning!

I have done a ML specialisation course and a course in mobile graphics which I had no idea of starting the internship. I also learned skills like visual computing and pytorch. Having standups and meetings weekly/daily helped me have better communication skills and improves my confidence

I am receiving a lot of guidance especially considering that I had no experience on graphics

I love the atmosphere. I believe the company treats us very well. Often gives us free ice cream and organises events like comic con or Summer festivals or National Interns Day. They encourage us to develop skills by providing us free online course accounts or pathways. They also encourage dei by providing events like DEI: My cultural background where we talk about our backgrounds which also helps us get to know each other and why we are the way we are.

Its still my 6 week so I still have a long way to go. But at the moment Im enjoying every second of it! Love to be surrounded by like minded people.
