Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I worked as part of a verification team, working on A-class CPUs. I was responsible for helping to maintain the testbench and supporting infrastructure.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given quite a bit or responsibility as I was working on a live project, with real world impact on both the team and the project overall. The tools I helped develop were used by the team to increase efficiency.

I was well supported by both my line manager and the early careers team, with regular 1 to 1s and other support mechanisms. The wider team always helped out if I got stuck or needed pointers too.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Arm has a very good company culture, you are treated with respect and as an adult who is capable of managing your own time. It is also a very high trust environment.
There are also lots of networking opportunities, both amongst the intern cohort and the wider community.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement. The work I have been set is both interesting and rewarding, whilst being difficult enough to be challenging too. The wider team do their best to make you feel welcome and make sure you're getting the most from your time at the company.

What advice would you give to others applying to Arm

Unless you have a specific business group/area you want to work in in mind, don't worry too much about choosing one during the application process, they are very good at finding the right place for you.
Also, whilst you're here, make sure to learn as much as you can, and talk to as many people as you can.
