Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involves writing verification tests for computer architecture modules that have already been designed. Day-to-day, it requires a lot of learning and reading documentation. It also involves meetings with members of my team from all over- I've worked with people from my home office, Sheffield, as well as Budapest in Hungary. These meetings help me understand the concepts that I learnt from the documentation and which are needed for me to carry out my work. I then crack on with my work and get back to my team if I need more guidance. The skills I've had to use so far have mostly been bash/linux and C. I'll likely need SystemVerilog knowledge over the next few months too.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I have been trusted to do work by myself that slightly pushes my capabilities, but also have been provided with a helpful network of people to consult for help. The work I do WILL be included in future developments, so I have been given real responsibility.

I am developing my C, my bash and my personal communication skills. Over the next few months, I hope to dive more into FPGAs and SystemVerilog.

I have been assigned a buddy that sits near me, to help me out. I also am in contact with people from other offices, as well as my manager, who are all very supportive.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Arm is so chill and everyone is so friendly and willing to talk/help. They don't treat you like an intern and everyone seems like they want you to return as full-time employee.
