Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at CGI?
Overall, my experience at CGI has been both professionally rewarding and intellectually stimulating. The environment encourages ownership, innovation, and collaboration, which has helped me grow not only in technical competence but also in business awareness and stakeholder management. I’ve had the chance to work on impactful projects and be part of a team that values continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Leading and supporting delivery of technology-focused initiatives, from planning through execution.
Interfacing with internal teams and stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver solutions.
Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and helping ensure timelines and expectations are managed effectively.
Driving documentation, reporting, and governance support as needed.
Enjoyable Elements:
I especially enjoy the problem-solving aspect of the role — figuring out how to deliver the best results within constraints.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams and learning from their varied experiences.
Opportunities for autonomy in execution, which allows me to apply my judgment and take accountability.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
While I have maintained a central focus in my core role, I’ve also had exposure to tasks across various domains — from hands-on delivery to team coordination and reporting. This variety has enriched my perspective and helped me understand the wider business impact of our work.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
The base compensation is competitive for the responsibilities involved, though there’s always room for better alignment with market benchmarks. Some perks and benefits I find particularly valuable include:
Flexible working arrangements, which greatly support work-life balance.
Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP), which adds a long-term value element.
Training resources and learning platforms that support continuous development.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
The role has been instrumental in preparing me for the next stages of my career. It has helped me develop transferable skills in project coordination, stakeholder management, and agile delivery — all of which are critical for more senior leadership or strategic roles in the future. Exposure to real-world challenges and end-to-end project cycles has also enhanced my confidence and decision-making.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
The day-to-day responsibilities of the role have been a strong driver of continuous learning. I’ve had to regularly adapt to new tools, processes, and expectations, which has helped me build both technical and soft skills — particularly in communication, project ownership, and agile delivery practices.
On the formal training side, CGI provides good access to internal platforms and resources, including technical certifications, soft skills courses, and leadership development materials. However, at times the availability of structured learning plans tailored to my progression could be more clearly defined.
Overall, the combination of hands-on experience and access to learning tools has supported meaningful development, and I’ve taken initiative to pursue opportunities that align with my long-term goals.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Overall, the support I’ve received has been strong, particularly from my line manager and colleagues. My line manager has been approachable, communicative, and consistent in offering guidance while also giving me space to develop independently. My mentor provided valuable insights early on, especially in understanding the business structure and navigating internal systems.
The buddy system was a helpful initial touchpoint for onboarding, although I believe it could be more structured or extended beyond the initial settling-in period.
HR support has been responsive when approached, though not always proactive — especially in terms of learning and development visibility or career progression discussions. That said, I’ve always had a clear route to get help when needed.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Work-life balance has been one of the most positive aspects of my experience at CGI. The flexibility in working hours, combined with the ability to work remotely, has allowed me to manage personal responsibilities effectively and maintain a healthy routine.
There’s a general respect for boundaries, and I’ve rarely felt pressure to extend my hours unnecessarily. On particularly busy weeks, the team has been understanding and collaborative, which helps reduce stress and maintain mental wellbeing.
The only area for slight improvement would be encouraging regular breaks and reinforcing the importance of wellness through active initiatives.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
CGI fosters a professional, inclusive, and respectful culture. The atmosphere is collaborative and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on ownership, accountability, and client value. I’ve found people to be welcoming and open to sharing knowledge, especially in cross-functional settings.
The hybrid and remote working policies are well-implemented and have been a major advantage in creating flexibility. There’s a noticeable trust in employees to manage their workload autonomously.
That said, company-wide social interaction — especially in hybrid settings — could be more consistently encouraged to strengthen informal team bonds and inclusion.
How would you rate CGI initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate CGI CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
CGI has a visible commitment to CSR, with several initiatives that focus on community engagement, sustainability, and ethical governance. Events like volunteering days, local charity involvement, and internal sustainability efforts stand out and offer meaningful ways to contribute beyond day-to-day work.
However, more visibility and involvement opportunities across all business units would help increase engagement. A clearer calendar of events and regular showcases of impact would also boost awareness and participation.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
Yes
Why?
CGI offers a supportive and collaborative environment that’s particularly well-suited for early-career professionals. The company invests in learning opportunities, encourages autonomy, and promotes a healthy work-life balance. The exposure to real, meaningful projects provides a strong foundation for both technical and interpersonal skill development.
It’s a place where you’re trusted with responsibility early on, and the hybrid working flexibility makes it easier to adapt to the role while maintaining personal balance. If someone values structured delivery, team culture, and steady professional growth, I’d definitely recommend CGI.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
The role largely met — and in some areas exceeded — my expectations. The recruitment process outlined the responsibilities and opportunities with reasonable clarity. However, some of the day-to-day nuances and long-term growth paths could have been communicated in more detail. That said, the core responsibilities, team structure, and support mechanisms were very much in line with what was promised.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to CGI?
Do your research on CGI’s operating model, values, and the sectors it works within — this will help tailor your application and show alignment.
Prepare examples of collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving, as these are traits highly valued within the company.
Ask questions during the interview about team culture, development pathways, and expectations during the first few months — it shows interest and also helps set clear expectations for both sides.
Once onboard, take initiative early on. While support is available, CGI values self-starters who are proactive in their learning and engagement.
