Summer Scheme Student Review

My role was to assist in the Food and Farming division. What I did varied greatly but some tasks I completed were mapping up cropping plans and government grant schemes as well as completing rotational declarations. I was also involved in farm budgeting and attended both client and office meetings. Additionally I completed sector research to advise my team on recent updates.

I was given a lot of responsibility during the internship which I found really enjoyable as I felt like a valued member of the team. Some of my work was directly delivered to clients and also published on the company website for the general public to access

The main skills I have developed have been interpersonal skills, gaining confidence to talk to both clients and colleagues. I also learnt how to use many new software programmes and a lot more about how the sector works

I was given a key team member to assist me and be my port of call for everything I needed which meant I was given a lot of support. Additionally the rest of the team were also more than happy to help and there was a very supportive environment

There was a very good company culture and everyone was happy to help and show you what they did. I worked in a very mixed office and got the opportunity to spends days in different parts of team to gain a deeper understanding of the sector and potential future avenues for me

I really enjoyed my placement and it has given me a genuine interest in the sector and made me excited to pursue a career
