Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I was taken aback by how informative each day was - From receiving tailored workshops and presentations from expert lawyers of the firm to engaging with hands-on live corporate work through our trainers, everyday was geared towards accelerating our professional development and knowledge of how a premier law firm operates globally.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was honestly refreshing to see a law firm offer so much capabilities that spanned beyond the traditional "commercial law" role. From learning of the Advanced Delivery & Solutions team to uncovering the cybersecurity practice, I was able to gauge how expansive and impactful this law firm is.

I have developed my ability to synthesise complex information much more efficiently than ever before. Utilising the wealth of technical resources offered by the firm, I also learned how to use technology effectively in a legal context.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was incredible. Despite its elite status, there was no evidence of a hierarchical dynamic amongst different members of the firm, and I found that lawyers here were especially receptive to hear about any of my concerns about working at a law firm amongst other professional and personal enquiries!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to A&O Shearman
I would implore all applicants to research how a global law firm like A&O Shearman operates and assess whether it's the right fit for you. Once decided, I recommend going over A&O Shearman's Assessment Framework to understand what qualities in particular they are looking for. Do a lot of prep and practice before your assessment centres/interviews but most importantly; Relax. Lawyers here are friendly and genuinely want to see you succeed.
